New Atoms For Peace

Many remember Thom Yorke's 2010 solo album 'The Eraser' and subsequent tour.  This supergroup consisting of Thom Yorke, Nigel Godrich (Radiohead's producer), and Red Hot Chili Pepper's Flea, was later named Atoms For Peace.  Since the 2010 tour, the group has taken a backstage stance as Yorke and Godrich busied themselves with Radiohead's "King of Limbs" album and tour, and Flea with RHCP's "I'm With You".  With the exception of some DJ sets and a remix here and there, this new project has remained rather inactive.  Until this week that is, when Yorke announced a new track by the band, Default, and an expected album release in the next year.  With one listen to the new tune, no Thom Yorke fan should be surprised or disappointed.  Yorke's known obsession with glitchy electronic music and frequent collaborations with Flying Lotus and Modselektor shine through this new groove.  Have a listen here!

David Byrne & St. Vincent "Love This Giant"

Yesterday, David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent, released their long awaited collaboration album, "Love This Giant".  After one listen this morning, I highly encourage you all to give the record a good once over.  If you are a Talking Heads fan you will love the bouncy, hypnotic tunes reminiscent of the Heads' hit album "Fear of Music".  If you are a St. Vincent fan you will adore the way her curiously, beautiful voice compliments Byrne's in 'Who' and 'The One Who Broke Your Heart', as well as her numerous solo tracks on the album.  Overall, this album grooves.  It is carried along by a prominent brass section that creates the backbeat to the two artists' vocal and lyrical experimentation.  Be sure to pick up a copy of this album!  And have a listen to the hit track "Who" below.
