R.I.P Etta James

With unforgettable songs such as "At Last", "Dance With Me Henry", and "Tell Mama", Etta James was an incredible musician.  For decades, people will remember her and her phenomenal voice.  A voice that, as some have put it, can be raspy deep and soulful, and then turn to silk at the drop of a dime.  She was a master of jazz and blues and will forever influence R&B singers who aspire to have the soul she had.  Etta sadly was diagnosed with leukemia last year and passed away this morning just 5 days before her 74th birthday.  Honor her memory with a listen of the timeless classic, "At Last".

Coachella Sold Out

Sorry for those behind at all; but Coachella, yes both weekends, sold out all 225,000 tickets this morning in less than 3 hours, including all campsites.  This sets a record for not only most tickets sold in such a short time, but also highest grossing music festival in the world.  For those who were on their game, congrats on booking one of the highest sought after shows with an amazing lineup this year!  I'll be there second weekend and hope to see you there!

Coachella

I know this isn't new news, but as a music blog, it is my duty to announce the release of Coachella's lineup today at 4:00 pm.  Although rumors circulate about tickets and sold out weekends, the latest word is that nothing is sold out, and tickets will be on sale Friday at 10 am.  As far as the line up goes, there is definitely enough to excite a fan of any genre.  Stay posted for a short review and highlight of each and every band on the lineup coming in the next few weeks.  Get excited for April and I hope to see a lot of you there!
Happy Coachella,
Cody

Playlist of the Week #13

Hello people,
Hope the new year is treating you well.  Sorry for the hiatus in posting; my schedule has been relatively hectic.  But with new albums being released weekly and friends sharing music with me daily, I felt it was time for another playlist of the week.  I have mentioned this before, but if anyone likes the look of a playlist and would like a cd of the songs, or any others I have before mentioned, please comment on this post or email me at csargean@calpoly.edu.
I hope this will be a big year for Note for Note, with expectations of countless album reviews, concert reviews (including Coachella), interviews, contests/giveaways, and of course playlists of the week.  Thank you so much for all your support this past year in getting this blog on its feet.  Please continue watching for posts and telling any music lovers about it, and I will do my best to make it worth all your time.  Thank you and happy new year!
